Julia Ross has almost thirty years’ experience in the recruitment industry. This followed a career in the construction industry where she earned her first management role for a division of the Taylor Woodrow Group. Julia quickly moved to senior level at a young age resulted in her becoming a finalist in the prestigious Business Women of the Year Awards presented by the London Times and Veuve Clicquot (UK).

Julia’s career in the recruitment industry began in the United Kingdom with an international group, with whom she progressed to manage their operations within Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

In 1988 Julia founded Julia Ross Recruitment. The company developed from a single service line business in generalist recruitment to providing professional, specialist, executive and IT recruitment alongside HR and payroll technology (via Aurion Corporation), HR Consulting covering all aspects of human resources management including outsourcing, payroll services and managed training services.

The business listed on the Australian Stock Exchange through an IPO in 2000, and became at the time the largest ever single-owner business and the only ever solely female-owned business to list on the ASX.

Julia Ross has received many accolades including BRW’s Leading Female Entrepreneur and the Westpac Group Business Owner Award in the Telstra Business Woman of the Year Awards. Julia now lives in London.

Julia has a strong commitment to charity and has sat on many charity boards and was the founding donor of Sydney’s Women’s Fund.

Julia has been involved with the Salvation Army education committee, the Red Cross fundraising committee, East West Committee donating to Cochlear implant and Opera foundation, Sydney children’s hospital, Alzheimer’s Association NSW, NASCA and the Cornucopia Committee. These charities are very focused on women, children and young people ranging from education to protection of the disadvantaged.

Sydney Women’s Fund

The SWF helps women in need within the greater Sydney region through a range of grass roots programs. This includes women who have been subjected to violence; and to help mothers and children with disabilities to help provide weekend respite; help fund perinatal mental health project; to help run peer support groups of children whose parents are prisoners; to help support women and their children who have recently moved into independent housing after being homeless; and to help create enterprise for recent refugee women from Sierra Leone.

Julia has a commitment to ensure that all of her projects derive funds to help charities particularly those with a commitment to women and children.
