Women Powering In Their 60s

Forget the twin set outfits, this group wants to smash perceptions of what it means to be a woman in your 60s.
Gold Coast local Chris Vidal, 63, started Power of Women in our Sixties about three years ago and now has about 530 members on Meet Up and holds regular gatherings to share stories, ideas and knowledge - and have a laugh.
"(The motto is) to live life to its fullest and rather than slow down, rev up ... I reckon we're the most qualified people in life generally," says Chris.
Kathye Jordan, 68, says you can feel ignored in your 60s and she dyes her hair red and paints her nails to make a statement.
"We're invisible - you get that feeling even when you're in your 50s ... you do feel no one takes any notice of you and you don't know anything," says Kathye.
Kathye says you've got to keep turning the pages in the book of your life and create the next chapter.
Vicky Nicoll, 64, says there's a lot to look forward to in your 60s and beyond - and best of all, you've got time to do things you never had time to do before.
"Go along and try out the bowls, go along and join a card group, go and do the wine society, get a bike, get a dog, go walking, there's so many wonderful things to do," says Vicky.
Good on you, ladies!
