Christiane Amanpour

Christiane graduated  from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. She is half-Iranian and lived in Iran until her late teens/early twenties. She left her homeland because of the Iranian Revolution.

At 11, she was sent from Iran to a Catholic girl's boarding school in England and was an accomplished equestrian who competed as a child jockey.

Her parents are Mohammad and Patricia Amanpour, her father is Iranian and her mother is British and she was the eldest of four sisters.

Amanpour was permitted to interview the extremist Russian politician, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, for 60 Minutes after he specifically said he would not be interviewed by an American correspondent from the show.

She is fluent in Farsi and most of the time speaks Farsi in Iran.

She was awarded the C.B.E. (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2007 Queen's Birthday Honors List for her services to journalism.

She made an interview with Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad after he was announced as the president of Iran on June 13th.  She is an intelligent, active reporter who is sought after in the field of journalism and interviewed many women at the top i.e. Hillary Clinton.

Failed her driving test 4 times as a student in England, and passed the test first time after moving to the U.S.A.
